Birds
I love birds, birding, banding, and rehabilitating. Although I am not currently employed, doing bird research it is still my primary hobby.
My interest in birds began my sophomore year at UC Davis. I took an introduction to Avian Science course (AVS 13) where we watched episodes of The Life of Birds, which made me pay attention to birds for the first time. I got completely hooked after taking Captive Raptor Management with Brett Stedman followed by Raptor Biology with Allen Fish. The day I held my first Great-horned Owl at the California Raptor Center, I was forever addicted to all flying predators. I continued my newly found obsession as an intern at the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory. Since, my intern days I have continued my knowledge and education pertaining to all things birdy.
Here’s a list of my bird-related and educational experience:
- Advanced Bird Banding, Ventana Wildlife Society, Big Sur
- Birding by ear, San Francisco State University Extension Program, Sierra Nevada Field Campus, CA
